    I am contemplating going from VZW's .77 to Alltel's .89. Any horror stories I should hear before bricking my Pearl?

    its very very difficult to completely brick your device. Usually it just requires a low level wipe and reinstall of the OS. just make sure you back up your information before loading the new OS.

    I have been running .89 for awhile and it works just fine for me. I say go for it...
