I have the pink blackeberry pearl and in the top middle of the screen there is a single blue guy with 3 red lines coming out of the the right side of him. Can anyone help me with what this symbol is?

u should take a screen shot so we know what it looks like. look up (google or here on CB) the app "Capture it"

Are you using a default theme or a third-party theme? Some of the icons are different in third-party themes. If you are using a third-party theme, it would help us identify the icon if we know what theme it is.
