second blackberry enabling as modem

I originally had a blackberry pearl 8130 I got to work as a modem for my pc. Internet was great.. My dog got ahold of that phone and shredded it. Temporarily I switched to a htc diamond, but found the internet useless and impossible on the pc. So I found another used blackberry from my local store in hopes all I would have to do is plug it back in by the usb and my internet connection would be back. But now it's not.. Can anyone PLEASE help me. Our local store seems to be clueless on what enabling a modem even means. Would having a used phone this time, which is switched over in my name and data plan now.. have anything to do with not being able to get my connection back?? any help would be greatly appreciated...

Is it a different model bb? Are you using dm to tether or some other program? If using dm I would uninstall dm, reboot and reinstall dm.

Same model BB. Using dm.. I thought about doing that, but I have lost my original cd to install.. a girl I work with has a few bb cds.. but the way I understand is some cds like with the new bb curve, are a different type of dm/cd as with the blackberry pearl I have.. Not sure if this will affect anything or not?? But I will try when she brings it..

You can also download it here BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop Software It's also the newest version 6, don't know if that will make a difference. Cnet has this version BlackBerry Desktop Manager - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com and sure if you google you can probably find more versions.

That's the problem..I can't download anything , I have no internet access to pc w/o my bb.. But I did download it to a flash drive from someone else's computer and came home to try and reinstall it and it kept giving me a error message..I just ordered the bb cd off of ebay and will try to install it that way again.. hope to have that today or tomorrow..!!
