I have a question about adding themes to my 8130. Do they need to be specifically designed for OS 4.3 and the Pearl 8130? Or will the themes for the original Pearl 8100 and OS 4.2 work??

I believe that any theme that is designed for the 8100 also works for the 8120 and 8130.

Correct me if I am wrong, though.

Themes for the 8100 were built with the 4.2 OS developer kit, therefore some compatibilty issues may exist and unpredictable results could be experienced running on the 8130 4.3 OS. Seems to depend on the theme, folks are reporting some themes to work fine, other themes may have issues.

Anyone know if the "issues" are that it just may not work right, or that it will brick my BB and I will have to wipe it? That happened to me with my 8703e this summer.

From what I understand many of the 8100 themes have problems rendering on 4.3 OS, so they may appear and/or behave odd. I personally haven't attempted it.

Every 8100 theme i've installed works 100% on my 8130

If you're installing from the desktop, you might try installing the device files (in addition to the desktop software). I know the software for Verizon BB's is at vzw.smithmicro.com/blackberry but I'm not sure about other carriers.

I was able to purchase and download as well as install a theme called WinDesktop at bplay.com. When I downloaded the theme, it stated if was for the 8100 but installed on my 8130 just fine. I can't find anything wrong with it so.......
