Preloaded junk / how to remove stuff without reinstallinig the OS?
I know I can get rid of all the crap Verizon sent with my phone by reinstalling the OS and just deleting the files for the stuff I dont want before installing...
...but is there a way to get rid of things like the preloaded wallpapers & video, without reinstalling the whole OS? - 02-20-2008, 12:40 PM #2

I found those threads before and I may just be mis-understanding but it seems like that way I would have to reinstall the whole OS just to get rid of the preloaded wallpapers is that correct?
Is there any way to 'unlock' those preloaded wallpapers so I can delete them without reinstalling an OS? - 02-20-2008, 01:53 PM #7
Sorry to say no way to "unlock" these. The file: net_rim_bb_media_8130_240x260_b.cod is buried inside the OS and the only way is to delete the file and reload the OS.

Option - SureWipe
Hi,
After spending hours reading the forums about how to remove programs and modules I didn't want for my 8820, I found a download for SureWipe at $15. Since I have a Mac and cannot do the DM downloads, this was the only way to knock out the memory draining software I didn't need. I now have 34MB free.
Be careful what you remove, as you cannot restore it through SureWipe. I got a bit overzealous on knocking out the themes on my T-Mobile BB, and mistakenly took out
net_rim_theme_100_320x240_b.cod
Now my 3rd party themes don't load, but it's still a small price to pay for all the free space I managed to get.
