Question Pearl 8100 headphone issue

Hi everyone!

I have a Blackberry Pearl 8100 I bought recently to replace a stolen phone. It originally came with the 4.2 OS but I upgraded to 4.5 so that I can use Pandora, which requires 4.3 or higher. However, the Pearl refuses to recognize my headphones. It will recognize my car speakers when I plug it into my cassette adapter, but all other headphones--different models, brands, etc--nada; it just uses the speaker on the phone. I've tried a battery pull, plugging the headphones in before and after opening Pandora, making a call before switching to Pandora, and activating headphones under the audio source option within Pandora. None of this works. The only thing the Pearl does is switch to voice dialing when I plug in headphones.

I've read online that this is a fairly common problem but I haven't seen any fixes for it. I've also read that it is an issue with 4.5. Is there a way to downgrade to 4.4 or another previous version that supports Pandora to get the headphones to work?

Any other solutions? I reaaaally want to be able to listen to music on this thing. It's the main reason I bought the freaking thing.

With different phones there can be compatibility issues with different types of headphones and earphones. When purchasing earphones it is best to test them out in the store before buying them.

With wired headphones the big issue is the impedance and the required drive power from the phone. Try them before you buy them.
