With all the memory leak issues people are seeing with their 8130s we all need to reset our phones pretty often. I'm hesitant to keep pulling the battery though there has to be a better way to reset the device. It's not like you pull the plug on your computer, you go through a shutdown process. Is there something similar for a blackberry?

From my experience, its generally not that the phone needs to be turned off but that the batter needs to come out, to remove any funky things the phone is doing/not doing. I have turned off my phone doing quirky things before and that not solve the issue but doing a hard reset did.

For the SureType devices, no, the only way to reboot it is to remove the battery.

there is a software called softreset. download that and use that to reset. no more need to remove battery.

Thats cool. I personally would still stick with the manual battery pull.

Yeah last thing I need is more software. Isn't that the main reason for the memory lag? I love my blackberry but I hope rim increases memory in the 9000 series!

Soft Reset FTW! I imagine it's got to be a little less harsh than a battery pull.

I also have SoftReset and love it...I agree...taking the battery out once a week increases the risk of damaging the battery terminals.

I use soft reset once or twice a day. It works great and its much easier than doing a battery pull.

Yes...my BB only gets down to about 10MB about 1x/week....that's when I'll do the reset again.

Softreset is a godsend. I have also removed some programs to free up some memory. After a soft reset, I have 12.7mb free.
