1. Download desired OS to your PC
2. Install/run OS to PC
3. Delete vendor.xml file. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Connect BB to Desktop Manager and it should prompt the upgrade. If not click app loader and that should initialize it.
5. Do not unplug BB during the process. It will take around 30-60 minutes to complete upgrade. - 01-16-2009, 12:11 AM #3
i downloaded it just fine and went through the instalation process fine and when i open the desktop manager it asks me to update the 4.3 software but it doesnt follow through and finish.
what should i try to get it to finish updating to my phone? - 01-17-2009, 11:47 PM #5
what are the changes in this update?

I'd like to know the changes too. I did upgrade with no problems so thanks for the link. I have UMA via T-Mobile and ever since I upgraded from the antiquated 4.3 my UMA hand off does not work and I get cut off as soon as I go out of router range. I'll test this version as soon as I leave and see if I get cut off.

I've been using .102 for quite a while and it's the most reliable version i've found thus far. How does this version compare?

My phone hasn't reset at all so that's a good thing. On all of the other upgrades my phone would randomly reset. The UMA hand off is still messed up though.

TMOBILE pearl 8120 gets 4.5 os from att no side effects!
If someone read Garz advice like I did anybody can have 4.5 os into their T-MOBILE pearl 8120.But first, you'll have to get the new 4.7 desktop manager from blackberry site. Then download the att 4.5 os version.after the download about 30 mins or so,go to C:/program files/research in motion/blackberry/vendor file.Delete the vendor file then open the newly 4.7 desktop manager. It will prompt you to a page that will ask you if you want to "update now".Choose the first one in the list.Which is black berry 4.5 os device software. After that your pearl 8120 from TMOBILE will have the new 4.5 os.So far everything is working 100%.All my previous contacts, programs, was saved and working fine.

TMOBILE pearl 8120 gets 4.5 os from att no side effects!
I am sorry. The correct order to delete the vendor file is. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader.By cancelling out the vendor file,it will leave the 4.5 os to work on any pearl 8120.It did mine and I'm finally can stream you tube.

I downloaded the OS for the 8120 which I think is right but in the about it says...v4.5.0.110
Is that the correct version for the Pearl 8120? - 01-21-2009, 07:35 PM #18

i downloaded this version, but when i tried installing it onto my computer i get an error that asks for "data1.cab" near the end of the installation.
so i gave up and went for the at&t .110 version instead. =\Last edited by mixinluv2u; 01-22-2009 at 01:40 PM.

Right now, I'm using 4.5.0.81 on T-Mobile. Should I switch to something different? If there's no real difference, I don't want to go through the hassle.
By the way, I'm using Desktop manager version 4.3.0.17Last edited by CCCHeel; 01-23-2009 at 05:04 PM.

Once again, I'll ask as everyone else already has...
Are there any noticeable changes with an update from 4.3 to 4.5.0.124 on the 8120?

Try using DM 4.6 or lower. The 4.7 I found is better suited for OS 4.6 and greater which Pearl's do not have.
