Default Newbie... some thoughts/observations

First off I would like to thank everyones responses to my question about using the razr charger to charge the pear.
Basically I will use the real BB charger but when I travel I wanted to user the old Motorola one just in case I leave it behind.... So far I am loving the BB but there are some things about my RAZR V3m that I miss... mainly the ability to toggle through ringer loudness, vibrate etc. but using the side toggle swith... why in the world cant we do this on the BB Pearl... It is getting kind of annoying going into the profile menu everytime I enter an area where I need to adjust the volume.

Also, I miss the ability to turn on blue tooth by pressing a simple button instead of having to go into options then select blue tooth then enable blue tooth.

Finally, I have been reading about people viewing you on their Pearl, however, I have tried many times and have failed both with the mobile you tube and regular you tube site. I have sprint as a carrier and to my knowledge there is no new software update available

I am new to this Blackberry thing too and I have been through more cell phones then some 3rd world countries, but the Pearl is best phone I have had to date and I don't know how I did without it before. By son got a Treo sometime ago and I wasn't impressed with it or it's Windows OS. Kept locking up on him.

Which brings me to the Blackberry O/S. The first thing (being in computer business) I do when I get some new hardware is look on the web for new drivers or whatever. Same with the Blackberry. the first thing I did was see what O/S it had and found a newer one. That alone solved a lot of little problems and I can view Youtube videos. Have you updated your O/S yet? There is a good "Stickey" here in the forums that tells you how, where, and why.

You can chose between current ring and vibrate by holding down the # key.

Emtronics obviously had a good experience, but if you are new to the bb, I'd encourage you to use it for a week or so to get familiar with the operating concept before you try the OS update. It's not trivial. Watch the forums and see the questions people are asking as they try it. Learn from their mistakes and it'll be a lot easier when you try it yourself.
