New Member/User...Couple Questions
- Hi. I recently purchased the Pearl the other day. I am happy with it so far, but I have a couple question that I cannot find answers to. I believe this is the place to go.
1. When I go into profles - advanced - active, I have a choice of changing my notifications. For instance, when I go into SMS Text I see that the repeat notification is a LED flashing. This works fine and great.
BUT I went into phone and made sure the LED flashing was on for it also, but it does not continue blinking for a missed call like it does for a text. Did I do something wrong?
2. After opening an application like the phonebook or messages, is it normal for the phone to remember what you were doing in those apps...such as who you were looking at or what screen of the app you were on? It seems like i continually have to backtrack to get to the screen I want...
Thank you much01-09-08 09:23 AMLike 0 - Hi. I recently purchased the Pearl the other day. I am happy with it so far, but I have a couple question that I cannot find answers to. I believe this is the place to go.

Thank you much01-09-08 09:31 AMLike 0 - Glad I could explain one problem away...the first I am still thinking about. To be honest, I never noticed if mine does or not! I've only had mine since the end of November so I am learning too. I know I have mine set to flash, but whether it continues or not I don't know. I have also noticed that when I receive a new message it vibrates once, like I set it too, but then I am not getting the sound (I was before) after it even though it was setup for "Vibrate & Ring"...I just pulled my battery, as I saw it as a suggestion in another post, to test it. I guess we'll find out soon if someone else can answer our questions! OK, I just received a new message and it vibrated once, red light flashes, but no sound??01-09-08 09:52 AMLike 0
- OK, I am stupid...I went in and checked one more time and I was only on vibrate??? How it switched, I do not know...honest, I don't do drugs and I've never been drunk, ha!01-09-08 10:03 AMLike 0

There is however a third party app you may consider: BBAlerts which allows further customization to Notifications.01-09-08 11:09 AMLike 0 - Thank you. That is what I was looking for.
An unrelated question. I got this phone hoping to just be able to check my email every now and then. I do not care so much about going onto the net, but I see that this may be a problem becuase I would like to check my school email (***.edu)...like that. So I believe the only way to do this is to pay to enable the internet right?01-09-08 11:41 AMLike 0 - I see you are with Verizon, so I take it you do have a data plan. (I Know you can get a BB without a data plan). If so then you can set-up to receive email. Internet is included with the data plan.01-09-08 11:45 AMLike 0
- One of the other problems that I have noticed with alerts is you can set the alert to vibrate & ring but still have the ringer volume on mute. I have sometimes wondered why I didn't hear an alert for a message only to find that in creating the profile I forgot to set the ring volume. Ymmv

One last question for now...
I have been reading a lot on the forum and see that it is important to close out off all applications you are not using.
What exactly does this mean...I mean when I am on the home screen aren't I closed out of the programs I am not using?
Thanks01-09-08 02:24 PMLike 0 - Thank you.

- Hold the alt key and press the back key, and while still holding the alt key, use the trackball to scroll thru whats open. There are 5 you can't close, Browser, Home Screen, BB Messenger, Phone, Messages01-09-08 02:47 PMLike 0
