Verizon is sending me a whole new phone because the silver plastice ring around my trackball is loose. I am not denying a whole new phone, this may be a stupid question but they are FedExing it to my house but when it gets there how do I switch service from my old phone to the new one or do I have to go to the store.

    Thanks
    AJ

Use the "switch Device" option in Desktop Manager to get your info to the new one, and you'll need to go to your BIS site and Change device there - enter the PIN and IMEI to get the BIS plan on the new one.

You'll also have to either call VZW or log onto the VZW site to change the active phone on your plan. Very easy to do.

Do refurbished phones have a good reputation of working and being unproblematic?

Both of my BB's have been refurbs. No issues at all.

I have had two warrantly replacements and they are as reliable as new!! They have new housings and look pristine, have been through a number of diagnostic tests to assure that they will work properly. You should be fine... if now, call 'em back!! :-D

    Welcome to CB.
If its just a loose ring would you be able to swap the old ring with the new ring and still keep your orignal phone?

That is something that I was considering I have 10 days to return the old phone. My old phone has a couple of scratches on it one on the screen. So if the refurb is better I will keep that otherwise I will swap the ring.

I actually work for a cellular service provider and all of our refurbs work as well as our brand new phones, as mentioned by pashan they go through a series of tests before they are sent out to customers - so no worries!

Refurbished phones are sometimes better than a new phone, reason being is that something has failed on the device and it has been replaced. When it comes to you new it has yet to be completely tested (i.e. you doing what you will with it) So, most of the time (not all of the time) a refurbished phone is better than a new.
