If you look at the open end of the USB Mini socket (phone on its back, earphone jack to the left, the wide part of the socket is down) the pins from left to right are:
1 - VCC +5v
2 - D- Data-
3 - D+ Data+
(Not Connected)
4 - GND Ground
If you have a really fine soldering iron and a steady hand you might be able to connect to the solder pads at the back of the socket, but it's VERY tight in there. If there are alternate connection points, I would like to hear about them. My 8110 has a bad VCC connection on the USB and I'm working on a method to repair it. So far I ruined the circuit board for another Blackberry trying to remove the USB socket :-(
