On the "desktop" screen I can hide icons by selecting Hide from the menu key.
When I try this for a picture or video it does not work. Is there a way to hide pictures to make them private?

LOL yea, very funny John Clark! THANKS FOR YOUR STUPID REPLY.
I have a 9 year old that likes to pick up my phone from time to time and use the ESPN app. to check the scores. Once in a while I have a picture on my phone that I do not want him to access. I wouldn't call it POrn as you wrote, but is still something I don't want him to see.
Maybe instead of being such an #$%&!, you could just of answered the question, but I guess you were trying to impress your friend (HAZYSKY). I hope that you may have a question someday and someone could be as rude to you John Clark.
why all the anger..I thought the joke was funny...LOL

    Back on track....
2 things I can think of...
    1. Enable the password so your son can't use the phone.
    2. Highlight the media folder, click menu, hide. And you tried this.

And to be honest... first thing that when through my mind was...he's got porn.
And far be it from me to throw stones... it's amazing the video quality of this thing!

Anger does as anger is, what's down in the well comes up in the bucket.

Whatever is on your BB that you don't want your child to see, can't be hidden.

So you need to decide why you must keep pictures on your BB that you would be embarrassed for your child to see.

You're not the first person to ask and it's usually to keep something from their wife. So you can under stand why people might think so since you weren't specific in you're first post.

Hiding the media program is probably the best idea.

Menu > Hide hides the Media app, not the picture.

I guess I wasn't that specific. And I am sorry that I even asked. You jumped to the conclusion that I have porn on my phone and then people have to chime in with nothing credible to add except that John was funny for posting a reply that wasn't nice.
Again, I am sorry that I asked this question and will think carefully before I ask anything here again. I know there are people here that do post replies to help people and not just to get a laugh.

Search back through my posts and you'll see I'm one of those people. Sheesh! What's wrong with a laugh?

Really dude, you need to lighten up a little. That was the frist thing that would come to most people's minds... kinda like when someone is asking how to bypass the security lock on a phone... most people will just assume right off the bat that they found it and are trying to keep it for themselves. Who really forgets their password to THEIR OWN device?

Don't take it so seriously. I actually wondered the same thing when I first got my BB, but I figured out eventually that there was no way to do it.

When you take p0rn pictures with your phone you should then upload them to your computer and delete them from your bb so your 9 year old doesn't find it.

    Tip of the day.

OMG people, I have not been here as long as some people, but i'm nearing 250 posts so I have SOME experience...

This is a VERY lighthearted forum... Almost rare for the internet right? Most of the people here are at least one of the following:

Highly educated, Married and or with children (how many people have the word 'dad' in their name!) in finance(and have BBs because they are required), in the service industry, plus many more that use it for work, early adopters, etc!

The many members of crackberry.com are not your typical internet demographic, and there is a negligable amount of 'trolls' here.. most people try to be positive, friendly, and helpful!

Sometimes humor comes in at some point.. I know i'm guiltry of it, but you have to realize that people honestly want to help you...

PS And honestly my first thoughts were of pictures of sketchy situations or whatever that I know I wouldn't want family or whatever stumbling upon... I've been there buddy... my tip to you is when you get back to your computer, take them off and hide them on your PC where it's much easier... if you have to have them on your BB, then maybe put on Auto Lock so if someone grabs it you can at least keep an eye on them because they can't do anything unless you unlock it!

At least videos don't have thumbnails! then we'd all be in trouble!

OK and the best tip I can give is to press the BB button when you're in the picture thumbnail view, and create a folder, and call it something stupid like backup or whatever. If you have music with album art, then there will already be folders...

you can press the BB button and MOVE them to that folder, so if someone goes to view your pictures, they have to manually select that folder, which if you 'blend' it in, probably won't happen unless if they have a LOT of free time...

that's your best bet, and I hope i've helped you!! Thanks for your time reading my rambling message.. best of luck

I'll tell you that I would love to be able to lock or hide photos. I take crime scene photos all the time when I am the first one on scene and need an emergency camera. Some of my pics have saved some good evidence and helped solve crimes. I would like to put them in a hidden folder or something since I dont like to delete them until I'm sure I dont need them or I have time to transer them to a PC. It could be two or three days before I print them out or transfer them. So there is my reason behind wanting what the original posts wants.
