Hey guys. I was wondering ... is there any way of using JiveTalk as your default text messaging program instead of the built in blackberry one? And if not, is there any other ones out there that let you do that? I just thought it would be cool to have the user interface of something like JiveTalk to use as a SMS text messaging program. It would make texting so much easier.

I can't tell you for sure, but as I've never heard of anyone doing this, I'm going to guess no.

JiveTalk is not an SMS text message application; it connects to your online IM servers for Yahoo, MSN, Gtalk, etc. It has absolutely nothing to do with SMS, because the IMs that Jivetalk sends are sent as data, not SMS.

I'm going to say it cannot do what you want it to do, so you need to convince more of your friends to get BlackBerrys!

Was he thinking in terms of threaded texts?

I have put that notion to rest in my head. Applications will probably be out in time for the BB 90000.

    (just a little venting)

Yeah I was talking about threaded texts. Oh well, I guess I'm out of luck.
