When you purchase a blackberry is the internet an option or is it a have to with an associated fee. Treo 650 user here looking to upgrade to something that does not crash everyday

The internet is a must have for email/MMS/Messenger etc. You would have to purchase a data plan on top of your voice plan.

Without a data plan your BB would only be able to make calls and use SMS.

The data plan is an option but in my opinion it's a must have. There's so much to do on BB once you have the proper data plan!
