Someone asked me to update the OS on their pearl and they don't know what model (81??) it is. Is there a way I can tell? I want to make sure I do the right OS.

Go to options, then about, it's in the first line.

I guess I should have also mentioned that when I turn the phone on I get the app error 523, so I can't get to the options. Does it make a bog difference which one I use?

Is there a sticker under the battery with details about the phone? They had that in my old phone.

yeah but it just says Blackberry Pearl and the IMEI and PIN #'s

My guess would be to look at pictures of the other pearls online and compare them to your friend's.

Do they still have the manual that came with their phone? That should have the model number in it as well.
