Hi Everyone,

The mute/standby button started giving me some problems today. When I press it down it just doesn't seem to work to put my phone into standby. Thinking that the button itself might be broken I went to play a song on my phone and sure enough it stops and starts playing songs without a problem. Can any one give me advise as to why my phone won't go into standby? Thanks in advance.

I just upgraded to 4.5.0.77 and the phone ran perfectly for about 3 days. Today this exact thing happened to me. I shut the phone off and then pulled the battery. When it rebooted all was normal again and the mute button would engage the standby mode.

Don't know if it is related to the version upgrade or not, just noting that this is the only erratic behavior I have seen thus far.

That's strange, I just updated it to 4.5 yesterday too, and sure enough I pulled the battery out and now it works fine. I think we've found a bug.

make that #4 with the exact same problem, didnt know how much i missed standby till it was gone. atleast with the 4.5 update i can hear people when they call. that was a huge problem the update fixed.

I experienced this problem several days ago. A quick battery pull and it was functioning again with no problems.

I hope this was a one off problem and not a reoccurring issue.

Has anyone else continued to get this problem?

Only happened that one time for me, and since then haven't done a battery pull once for any issues. Guess it was a one-time thing?

Another thing I noticed, when in standby the send/ end/ return buttons light up screen and it says press mute to exit standby mode. Wonder how much faster this will drain battery?

I've noticed this occurs when you press the left convenience key for voice dialing while the phone is entering mute/standby. I've disabled the voice dialing convenience key and this hasn't happened since.

mine would work fine after a battery pull...then randomly start not working again

i was using a storm theme, but then i switched to the dim L theme and did a pull and i havent had it happen again *knock on wood*

Yeah same Shhh with mine too. Its sucks but after like 2 days it wont work and I have to pull battery then its fine.. This really is a bother. maybe it has somthing to do with memory>?

same here, its annoying. downlkoaded 4.5 two weeks ago and its onyl happened twice. nothing a battery pull cant fix but sometimes a batt pull is not possible.

Is there no solution for this other than battery pull? i had this problem and it went away for about a month but now the button stopped working again. If i battery pull the standby works for a few days and than just stops working again.

i updgraded to a curve a week ago and since have the same problem on the curve when i upped to 4.5 on monday

Wow, I just had the exact same problem! I am currently running v4.5.0.77 on my 8330. I did a battery pull and when I turned my phone back on my standby was working again! Woohoo!

i just upgraded my os to .214 and it is still happening on and off
it stopped working and i put it in my pocket. when i got home it was working again
no battery pull. so weird

I have 8130/4.5.0.97. I have to really push my standby button to get it to work. I thought my BB was messed up. I had been thinking of turning it in under warranty. I guess I don't need to now.

I thought the latest firmware was 4.5.0.89 which is the Alltel multilanguage?

Same thing here. Only started to happen after the upgrade. Now it has begun to occur more regularly. Also, if my phone connect to my bluettoth thru my car while in standby I can never get it out. Only a battery pull helps. Very annoying and I wish I didn't upgrade.

hey,
I've been having this problem with the standby button for about a month now. The standby button will work fine for a few hours, and then it wont go into standby mode, but it will still work as the pause button for the media player just fine all the time. Pulling the battery out seems to do the job for a little while...called my phone company and they told me to reset the OS on my phone, did that and it's still not working. So they are sending me a new phone..hmmm
