I just bought an 8 gig media card for my blackberry pearl 8130 and i had put it in my phone and formatted it from there! and then it says "media card cannot be read. Verify that the memory card is formatted." no matter how many times i format it and I have tried turning it off and then back on but IT WONT WORK!!!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Something is wrong with the card. Had the same thing happen to me, then I bought a new one and now I'm good. But it was a 2gig so I'm not actually sure

I was able to format it on my computer! but it wouldnt on my phone! and i need to know if there is anything at all I could do to the card to make it work.

I may be wrong, but the 8130 is only expandable to 4 gigs and that is why your phone won't support an 8

I have an 8130 running OS 4.5.0.77 and have no issues with my memory card (8GB).

I think you have to upgrade your OS to run the high capacity cards.

i never formatted my card

i just opened it and inserted it in the pearl

I am running 4.5.089 on my 8130 with an 8gb card and no problems what so ever. You should try another to see if it is that card or the phone.

4.5.0.89 with 8gig as well with no issues.

Same thing happened to me. I turned the phone off and removed the battery for a few seconds. The phone then was able to read the memory card again. Not sure why it happened but it resolved my problem and no settings were lost.

I have a Sprint 8130 4.3 with an 8gig that I only inserted without formatting it and it is working fine.
