Default HELP: May have bricked my Pearl

I think I may have bricked my Pearl 8100 v4.5.0.81. I recently installed funambol sync client and it gave me some sort of error message (can't remember the exact message) after reboot. I removed the battery and restarted it again and all seems ok. All apps seems to work fine. The problem is after restart, I can't connect my Pearl to my PC anymore via BB desktop software. BB Master Control Program sees my Pearl fine.

When I plug the Pearl via USB to my PC, the desktop software (latest v6.1.0.36) starts and the following message appears:

"You've connected a new Blackberry device, initialising device....."

Then after a short pause, the following message followed:

"Blackberry Desktop Software cannot communicate with the connected device - If the device is rebooting or has a dead battery........"

I think some file in the Pearl stuffed up which caused the desktop software not reading it properly. A device is recognised except the desktop software thinks the device is dead.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?
