I know this light flashes when I have a message/email/voicemail or what not. But it's flashing now and I have no new notifications. What gives?

You might have a missed call, which is showing up in your Messages folder (unlike your emails/SMS)...check there and it will probably be there.

If not, a battery pull should fix it.

Yes pulling the battery while it is on is called a hard shock and allows the device to fully power down and force a sort of reset. Should always be the first troubleshooting step when something weird like a persistent red LED is present.

LL you probably actually do have a msg somewhere, the red LED notification blinks for ~10-15 mins after incoming msg. Check all your folders:

Messages>Menu>View Folder

look inside each one... anything?
