Is there a way to close apps as appose to leaving them running in the background. I feel like whenever i run an app and close out of it, that it is still running in the background and slowing my device down/draining battery.

    Is this true?

The escape key closes most apps. The other way if they have it is to click the menu key then either close or exit. And leaving apps running does use memory.

Thanks. Is there a way to check what apps are running at any given time?

If your in the zen screen hit menu then menu again and switch application and it will tell you what is running. Certain ones will always run. Watch doing this more than 25 times RIM says it's a prodlem in the software. After doing it a few times, take your battery out with the BB powered on, for a few minutes.

I would also suggest this app. then you won't have to remove the battery.
