    hey there,
i am debating on trying to get my hands on an 8100 so i can take the LED lights out of it and put the into my 8130. i want to be able to have the different colored track ball but i dont want to do it the "sharpie" way. i was wondering if anyone has tried this already and, if so, did it work, is it worth doing? any general advice would also be appreciated. thanks in advance.

The light is soldered to the "mother board". You would need some very intricate tools and skills. Good luck with that.

Thanks! As if I need another reason to have this device in my hand more than I already do. ;-)

There might be another innate problem there. I am assuming you have the skills to get that transfer done, but after that how are you going to get your 8130 to utilize the LED in the way the 8100 does? What I mean is there are instructions within the processes of the 8100 that dictate when the LED is a certain color, but the 8130 does not have native support for a multi-color LED and thus would be absent of those instructions.

I think this might be one of those instances where you should move on to another customizable aspect of the BB.

that is true. i guess i was just thinking that the software would work on the 8130.
