Can't find if it really is an Unlocked Pearl 8130

I have a Verizon/Alltel Blackberry Pearl 8130 that I bought off Ebay. The listing stated that it would work on Verizon because it is unlocked. Well, I can't get it activated and can not find out if it really is unlocked. I have tried numerous suggestions that are on google, but it is of no use. Is there something I am doing wrong..or do I just give it up.

If it truly is a VZW branded BB, then it would not need to be unlocked in order to be activated on VZW's network. VZW is a CDMA carrier, so they do not use SIM cards, instead activating the device based off the ESN.

Have you called Verizon to get it activated on your contract?

The 8130 has no SIM card so it can't be unlocked. SIM cards are used on GSM networks and Alltel/Verizon uses CDMA technology.

Is this a Verizon or Alltel branded phone?
What issues are you having getting it activated?
What does Verizon say when you call them to activate it?

Most of the time, unless you're coming from Alltel, Verizon won't activate an Alltel phone. Verizon won't activate a phone that isn't theirs period, but they do make exceptions for Alltel customers converted to Verizon. If this is an Allltel phone you will will have a slim chance, if any, getting it on Verizon.

It is an Alltel phone and I am trying to activate it Verizon. I will give it a try, otherwise, I guess the phone is useless to me.

Ok, just spoke with Verizon and there is absolutely no way the Alltel Blackberry can be activated on Verizon plan....only Alltel. Anyone interested in a Blackberry Pearl 8130 very very good condition???
