Call problem with PAYG 8110
Firstly apologies for being such a techno no hoper!
Can anyone help?
I have been given a BB8110 handset (unused) and fitted by PAYG ornage SIM. My problem is that although I can make calls, it seems I cannot accept incoming calls!
The caller says that it rings once and then gives an engaged tone????
My phone then shows a missed call, any ideas would be welcome.
Another point is that my phone shows lowercase gprs - is this a problem or part of this problem?Last edited by Snipsy; 01-11-2012 at 02:17 PM.

Hopefully nothing more than an issue with your account setup. Call Orange and have them look into it. There's a setting from their end for how many rings the phone receives, before going to voicemail.
If you don't have a data plan, the phone would only show lower case.WAPers do it With A Passion

Thank you for the advice BigBadWolf, I tried contacting orange but they said that it wasn't their problem and that perhaps the phone was not unlocked properly?
I do not currently have a data plan but think I could get one from orange payg for £5/month, but unless the phone will work it's useless!
Any other ideas, it's seems strange because using for making calls is not an issue and it sends and receives sms msgs ok!! - 01-12-2012, 01:53 PM #4
It either is unlocked or it isn't. There's no grey area, and it certainly sounds unlocked. You can verify by going to Options->Advanced Options->Sim Card. Type MEPD and you'll get a new screen. In Network you should see Inactive or Disabled. If it's Active, then you need it unlocked. I can certainly recommend someone for you.

Thanks again, tried what you said and under 'Sim card' it reads
Sim Card: Security disabled
ID: 894412521494359148
Phone Number: 'the correct number'
So I'm still at a loss!
Someone in work said to wipe the handeld - I did that and it was fine, switched it off overnight and on switcjing on - guess what? back to incoming calls not working.
Others calling my mobile say it rings once then gives an engaged tone!! Aaaaarrrrgh!!!!!!
