blackberry pearl 8130 Connection Issues

Hello,

I am having issues connecting my BB to my PC. I have downloaded DM and it doesn't work. When I plug my usb cable into my computer the little cord thingy appears beside my battery icon (on the phone) for about 5 seconds then it disappears.

Any thoughts on this?

1) see if the connection (physical) is ok. (try to play with it and see if there is any change)
2) RUN desktop manager, connect Blackberry and sync.
