Default BES IT Policies

If I have BES set up on my Pearl then can IT admins set things up on the BES so I can't install applications?

I found that depending on IT policies you may not be able to connect to the Desktop Manager via bluetooth unless certain paramaters are set to FALSE on the BES.

Your BES can block certain applications if they wish to. So far the only ones that I have been blocked on is Vtap & opera mini. Every IT dept is different.

That's a foreign concept since I come from a Palm background. It's annoying as as a user but I guess in terms of Security it works out well for corporations.

Furthermore, Administrators can remotely add and remove software, install updates and change certain settings...

It really depends on how much control your IT dept wants to have. Mine IT dept is pretty laid back as we pay for our own BB's and service so they really don't want to tick us off.

Does this mean that IT can read my text messages and listen in on phone conversations?

I would have to say yes to the text messages and no to phone conversations. But I'm not 100% sure on that.
