I don't know of any shortcuts, but it might help you if you do like i do, and put some apps into new folders for things like emails, tools, games, etc. That way there aren't quite so many icons on the main app screen. I also hide app icons that I rarely use, like search for instance.
It's odd, in real life I am uber cluttered, but my BB has to be totally organized and neat, lol.
