8130 powers off and other probs

Hello everyone. Recently I have been experiencing a couple issue with my pearl and have searched but found no resolutions. Maybe some one can chime in and help out.
Issue # 1. My phone will randomly power off when in it's holster. I have a BB holster with the sleep magnet. Usually when I pull out my pearl it will wake up and all is good. Other times it is completely off. I hit the red button and it powers back on. It may due this a couple times per day but it is annoying.
Issue #2. Randomly I am unable to select a message. When I roll the ball it will select everything. It only happens in SMS, Messages, or Email. The only fix is to pull the battery. This happens frequently and is a PITA during the day.

I am running .97 OS released by VZW, and my pearl is a VZW device. I've had the OS installed for several months with no issues and only recently have started having these specific issues.
I have Viigo, softreset, and Leisure Suit Larry installed only. Does any one have any ideas or opinions? Has anyone else had these problems? Is it time for VZW to replace the phone?
