8120 plus outlook 2000 = no workie

So I have an 8120 (firmware 4.3) and my wife has an 8100 (4.2). Both are on T-mobile. I have outlook 2000 on my windows 2k professional OS. Desktop manager 4.3 doesn't have outlook 2000 support (arrrrrrrrg), so I spent the last hours (stupid installer takes decades) installing older versions, as they supposedly support outlook 2k.
DM 4.3 recognizes only outlook express (dumb) and both phones are recognized by windows and connect just fine.
DM 4.2 SP2 recognizes outlook, and recognizes the 8100. it does NOT let windows recognize the 8120. When I plug in the 8120 to the USB, windows does not recognize it and wants drivers for it. I haven't found any.
DM 4.2 SP1 is the same result.

Am I just going to have to go searching for someone's old copy of outlook 2002 or newer just to get my 8120 to sync? Thanks!

I have been able to use Desktop Manger 4.2 SP2 with newer OS versions than the 8120 has.

I would install 4.2 SP2 and then install the OS package for the 8120 along with Desktop Manager. That should allow everything to work. Or you could upgrade to Outlook 2003.

How do I download the OS with Desktop Manager for a Pearl 8130? I had to download DM 4.1 sp1 b/c I was just downgraded to Outlook 98 at the office.
