i searched key words and didnt find the answer.

#1: I have the 8130 and would like to record video longer than 3 mins...is that possible and if so how? (i have a 256 mb mem card in my slot)

#2: I am using windows vista and the media manager opens but i always get the immediate media manager is closing error. So i havent been able to even use that yet.

i have seen that there is 4.5.....would it make a difference if i had that?

I honestly don't remember I'd I was able to record videos longer than 3 minutes before I upgraded to 4.5 but I'd you are not very familiar with your phone you probably should not try and upgrade yet anyway. Hope this helps.

i could be wrong but i was under the impression that it would record as long as you had the memory available on your card.

I would think your card is not big enough. I got a 2GB for $15 at Best Buy.
