Hello, I took the 4+ hours to upgrade to the 4.5 OS using these instructions. Went well and almost all apps work ok. Haven't figured out the advantages yet, but do have some questions that the pros here might be able to help with:

- I did this mainly to get AIM to work. It still doesn't. Neither the OZ version or the AIM downloaded from BB. The AIM from BB gives me a "Service not enabled for this handheld" error. Been through the uninstall/reinstall, resend service books, registed the phone number on AOL Mobile site and even called TMobile (stated a service outage, but I haven't been able to get any AIM apps to run since i bought the 8100 almost 2 years ago.) Any ideas? I'm not an AIM fan, but need it for work.

- Calendar - now replicating appointments for every email account. I can limit the view to one account, but once I close and re-launch the calendar app, it defaults to showing all calendars. Anyway to default to just the one that I want to see only?

- Email - anyway to default to rich-text? There's not much screen realestate on these models, and I can see more faster this way.

- Homescreen background photo use - used to put a white border at the top and bottom and now it's black. Can that be changed?

- That's it for now. Thanks!

I'm guessing this won't work for 8130?

Don't know about AIM, hopefully someone will come along who does.

The BB calendar will give you a seperate color for each service, but no single service default view. There is a 3rd party calendar in development, but as of yet does not offer what your looking for either.
SBSH Calendar Pro for Blackberry | SolSie.com

email can be shown in html or rich text, messages, menu key, options, email services, enable html email "no".

Your homescreen look has changed due to the theme. There's a million of them out there, you'll find one that suits your needs. If not there are plenty of people who for a small fee will make you what you want.

The guide will do you fine. Only alterations would be no BlingBall, and the specific OS, use this one here:

Thanks BigBadWolf! The links that I followed actually took me to a 4.5.0.152 I believe. The AIM within OZ started working, but will not pull down current buddy lists. The AIM download from BB still doesn't work and TMobile CSR said that the 8100 is on a list of unsupported devices for AIM (too weird as it came with this when new!).

4.5.0.152 refers to the package version, the OS contained is 4.5.0.110, not that that is of much consequence. Glad the AIM is functioning, I know that a lot of the IM services have ended up unsupported. BBM is enough for me. Well, and Yahoo on my PC, to get a pop-up when emailed.

Lane, you don't have a "next" button to select at that point?

Unhappy Issues getting DM to auto Install or Install at all

Howdy,

First of all thanks for the thorough guide. It's very refreshing to find help on such complex issues.

I have followed all the steps up to the point of opening DM from CrackMem. When it does open, the OS is not autoinstalled. I have installed the downloaded OS on to my pc and I am running DM 4.6. I made sure to check off vendor.xml on CrackMem. I am lost on what to do next; any help would be awesome!

Pearl 8100
Tmobile
4.5.0.110
Windows Vista

Thanks!

A

All I get is 404. You should be able to upload an image. Use the attachment in advanced posting.
