| | Transfer SMS to computer
Hi there,
I'd like to copy all my SMS from my blackberry pearl onto my computer. how can I do that?
I have heard of a solution whereby you can forward sms to a phone number, and they will record them for you. I'm not keen on that solution because it will be a hassle to forward them all PLUS I am in Hong Kong so I'd have to pay for international sms and this would add up.
PS Perhaps this question is not "really" a blackberry question, because "really" the SMS messages are saved on my SIM. But anyway any and all tips much appreciated.
tx,
JG

I have heard that if you do a back-up of your bb with the DM, there is a program that will let you export the sms from the IDP (blackberry backup files). I saw it in another thread - I believe it was called Amber Blackberry Converter... I would do a search for that, and see if it works for you.

You might want to try website processtext com the abcblackberry tool (new user - so I can't help you more then that!)
Nice tool - helped me out as suggested, and not a bad price.

There is a new online service called dexrex that will archieve all sms messages sent and received. It stores them on their servers and you can access them whenever you would like. Best of all its free. Dexrex.com

Thanx ,but how do we send them all the sms?? i have like 40,000 sms.
and it would be great if i can find any software that can separate the messages with respect to sender.....
so, a software on my PC would be a better choice, so that i can separe the texts with respect to senders and also have it on MY system.
waiting.......

The only thing you could do is forward the messages to another phone. It would take a lot of time, but is worth it at least for the most important messages

I found a cool program that does EXACTLY that and it does it super easily and super well at Pleasant Solutions. Its called "Berry Extract", just search for the company name in Google and its under their products section.
Did the trick and saved me tons of time, my blackberry works faster now that I was able to extract the text messages and delete them.
On their website they say:
A simple program that lets you save your BlackBerry text messages (SMS) to Windows text or Excel files so you can save, paste, or search them easily. It's a Windows program so no BlackBerry installs needed. It can also get deleted texts from backups.

But for this software "Berry Extract" you need the licence, doesn't it?
