Default Storage Space

I'm slightly new at the BB thing. So far I love it. BUT, I had a 1GB card in my phone, and was running out of space. I bought a 4GB card and it still says it has the same amount of space. Why does it do this? And how am I supposed to get more space. I used a thread about deleting unused things which has been done.

You're talking about two kinds of space here. The media card should show as nearly 4GB, but may need formatted first. Make sure you have the contents stored on your PC, then go to Options->Media Card->Menu Key->Format. Once it's complete, transfer the contents back, except for the BBThumbs DAT files.

The device memory is effected by moving any media you've stored on it to your card, removing all unnecessary apps, and anything else you don't use contained in the OS.

If you're familiar with computers, the media cards are like a hard drive, while the app memory (used for apps, memos, tasks, etc) is like RAM.

There is little application memory on the pearl, so be selective about which apps you install. An option to free up more application memory would be to reinstall the BB OS and uncheck unnecessary apps, languages, security protocols, etc.

While you're at it go to the home screen of your BB. Now hold Alt and press E, A, C, E. Post the number you see under "File Free".
