Default SD Card issues

I'm having some weird issues with my SanDisk 8gb MicroSDHC. First of all:
  • Using an adapter, the card works perfectly in my computer
  • The card works in my wife's LG Chocolate

There are two different issues. Sometimes, the phone does not recognize the card at all and I get a "A Media Card is not presently inserted in the device" message in the media card options menu (meaning no "format" option). Then I will take the card out (which requires removing the battery) and replace it, then the device will find it.

However, in this second case, I get a message that says that the media card cannot be read and may need to be formatted. I hit the menu button and choose format, and am met with a message that says the card failed to format.

Now here's an interesting happening... when I plug my BB into my computer in this state, the computer, using mass storage mode, is able to access the card, add and remove files with no problem.

Here's a list of my phone's setup and what I've tried:
  • I'm running 4.5.0.174
  • Media Card support is ON
  • Encryption Mode is NONE
  • Mass storage mode support is ON
  • auto enable mass storage mode when connected is ON
  • I have tried the battery pull (I have to pull it to install the card in the first place)
  • I have tried formatting the card on my pc
  • I have tried formatting the card on the BB (it fails)
  • I have tried Options > Media Card > "Install Media Card"

I have scoured other forums for this issue and have found nothing I haven't tried. I cannot take the card back to the store (it works in my wife's phone anyways) and I do not have another microSD to try in my phone yet (If I can find someone that has one, I'll give it a try). I have found a forum post talking about another issue where the author talks about using his 8100 with an 8gb micro sd card, so I think it's compatible.

I'm at my wits end! Anyone have anything else to try?

make sure the card is seated properly, the 8100 is tricky to put a card in
sorry I cant give you more, you have all the correct things enabled, also try a battery pull if you have not

Thanks for the response.

I've messed around with the seating a lot. My method is to slide the card into the metal cover, line up the contacts, close the cover/card into place and slide the cover into its locked position. I then check to make sure it seems to be laying flat and everything. All the contacts should be connected.

As I mentioned, I have to pull the battery in order to access the media card, so I actually couldn't insert or remove the card without a battery pull if I tried. But I did do one deliberate battery pull and left it out for 15-20 minutes.

Still no dice.

Alright, got together with my friend who has a curve 8310, and swapped cards. His card worked in mine and my card DID NOT work in his. So that makes me think there's an issue with the card, although it works in the LG Chocolate and my computer (both through an sd adapter and by hooking the blackberry up and using mass storage whatever)...

What does the PC show you as far as the size of the card goes? You can right click on the drive letter and then Properties when the card shows up as a drive letter on the PC. Also if it works in your wife's phone then try formatting it there and then putting it back in your phone.

That's really strange. At least the card appears not to be counterfeit if your PC gets 7.59G out of it.

Yeah, the card seems to be fine everywhere but in a blackberry
