problem with charging and backlight

I have the BB pearl 8100 and i seems to be having problems charging. it says that its charging and the backlight comes on and stays on! it won't turn off (this just started happening) and my phone in fact isn't actually charging.

is there any way to fix these two problems?

So when you plug it in, it actually says charging and isn't?

exactly the little charging icon shows beside the battery but yet when i unplug it after "charging" for 2 hours its still at the same percentage..

any way to fix that and the stupid light from staying on while "charging"

I am not sure about what is going on, but if you are charging and you not gaining any battery life then you might need to replace the battery.
