Angry PC wont recognize Media Card

Please help.
Ive got my 8100 with a 2gb Media Card. The card works fine with BB. I can take pictures and store and even receive files via Bluetooth.

The problem is that when I connect to my PC, it wont recognize as an external storage device. In DM it does recognize the BB showing my PIN. This means cable is not the problem.

But the card wont show up in MY PC and doesn't work with Media Sync either.

Media Card Support: On
Encryption Mode: None
Mass Storage Mode Support: On
Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode When Connected: Yes

Anyone?

Default PC visibility of BB media card

OK, There are many similar links out there which indicate similar problems. I'm going to describe my problem more specifically in the hope that this may help those who help us...

I have a 8820 with an 8GB micro SD card. The blackberry (bb) recognizes the card and in the past I've taken the card out of the bb and placed the card (with an adapter) into my laptop (hp 6910p) to put music, etc, there.

I then ran across the desktop manager software (v5.0.1) and was lured in by the media synching feature offered. I loaded the desktop manager. The software when it opens recognizes the bb no problem but the media synch software does not see the bb.

My colleague has the same model bb and laptop. When he plugs in his bb into his laptop windows (XP Pro) recognizes his bb's micro SD card. When he runs the desktop manager everything seems to work and when he runs the media synch software that works as well.

I decided to plug in his bb into my laptop and curiously enough everything worked perfectly but what I believe is the key difference is that windows recognized his bb on my laptop.

I next plugged my bb into his laptop and we got the same result - everything worked perfectly. So it appears that my bb connected to my laptop specifically is the problem. To date I still haven't resolved the problem. I have uninstalled and reset many things but cannot teach windows to "see" my bb.

Default Windows cannot see Media Card

So my previous post identified the problem I was having after spending a few hours scratching my head and suddenly today I figured out the solution.

It seems like windows can at times become confused with drive letter designation. All I had to do was go into disk management (in control panel under administrative tools) and right click on the blackberry drive. Choosing manage under the list that pops up allowed be to force a drive letter. I chose W since I know I don't use that drive letter at home or at work.

I can now see my drive letter when I connect my blackberry to the laptop via a USB cable. Also media synch is happy and currently synching my music... finally.

I'm impressed that you found that solution. I'd completely forgotten about drive letter assignment in the Computer Management admin tool.

Yeahbuhwuh?

Run compmgmt.msc if you don't have the admin tools in your start menu. Disk Management is the specific tool you'll want to access for this issue.
