After you downloaded the 4.5 OS on to your PC, did you run it on your PC first to install it on your PC BEFORE you tried to load it on your phone? This must be done. Also make sure to delete the vendor.xml file from the c:/programfiles/commonfiles/researchinmotion/apploader directory. Also try disconnecting your PC from the internet (unplug your LAN jack) before you load the OS on to your phone.

i ran it before i tries to upload it. i even repaired it like three times before i tried it again just to make sure that it wasnt the fact that i had done anything wrong and i also disconnected from the internet and it still didnt work and when i go through all the files. i only saw app loader not apploader directrory. and i have gotten rid of the vendor file too.

Look in your Windows Control Panel, Add / Remove Programs. Do you see a line that says BlackBerry Device Software v4.5 for the BlackBerry Pearl Smartphone? If you don't see an entry similar to that, you don't have the OS installed. I'm also confused by your reference to repairing it.

Ok, so it's installed correctly. That's good. Explain what happens when you run the App Loader. What error message are you getting?

there's no definite program for it. when i double click it say you are attempting to open to open a file a type 'Application extension' (.dll) these programs are used by the operating system. editing or modifying them could damage your system

Are you running the correct program? The file is loader.exe and it is found in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research in Motion\Apploader\

Look at the path you typed compared to the path I typed. You're going down the wrong path. You've got to take the branch through "Common Files." That's why you aren't finding loader.exe.

I recommend you delete vendor.xml from everywhere you can find it. Later versions of DM sometimes install copies in additional locations. Use the windows search capability and delete them all.
