Seems Faster
I have installed this on my 8100 and I think it may be faster than .88.
That's my 2p worth, what do others think?
Thanks

Working perfectly!
I'm so glad I found CrackBerry

I installed 4.5.0.99 on both my 8100s (updating from 4.2.1.96). Like some other people, I also had that initial slow down and I needed to format the SD on my laptop before re-installing it in the phone after the update, but no worries. Everything is working well on AT&T in the D.C. metro area.
For anyone thinking about attempting the upgrade, I highly recommend reading this entire thread. After reading all the issues people had and the fixes, I had no surprises and it was a stress-free install. Just follow those instructions EXACTLY.
Really awesome and worth the effort, thanks!! - 11-16-2008, 06:08 AM #8
Installing it now.
Thank you beautiful women of Slovenia
Later that day:
...And yessssss.....perfectly working again!!! and faster than ever.

can anyone be more specific on the changes that this upgrade has?
....cause when they own the information, they can bend it all they want. - 11-17-2008, 02:05 PM #12

I believe these are new...
* Input options in Languages
* Something also changed in Security Options
* "Learning" new words from own emails and/or incoming emails option
* Show in Google Maps option from address book
And then... .99 is multilanguage so that was already enough for me to upgrade.Last edited by samsams; 11-18-2008 at 04:58 AM.

So there is pretty much no reason to upgrade from .81 to .99? Cause I have a pearl that I installed .81 on.

Well i used to have 4.5.0.81 for my Pearl 8100 and by getting the .99 I noticed that it is much faster and more responsive, also i noticed better voice quality. THese are really the only things ive noticed. If i notice anything else ill post it.
I definitely recommend BB 8100 users that have 4.5.0.81 to get this .99 version it is way faster even with all the apps i have installed.

I don't know if anyone else has had this problem with .81 but my phone sometimes randomly reboots (no its not the SD card) after upgrading in the beginning I bought a whole new 4gb since my previous was 1gb also sometimes hourglass happens randomly. Can someone who has upgraded to .99 keep me posted it if you see improvement on this new OS. I like the one I have now minus the random reboots that happen every so often but if this one happens to seem better then .81 then I'd like to upgrade if not ill just stick with my current. Thanks!

Up and running on AT&T here in Atlanta! Been putting off an upgrade for a while, went from 4.2.1.96 to this and am loving it so far. Completed the whole process to include my 3rd party apps in about an hour. Now if I can just get Garmin to send me a new activation ID....

I tried installing one of the previous versions of 4.5 and had a lot of problems. I ended up going back to 4.2.
I'd like to give 4.5 another shot with this latest version.
One of the problems I had was that Docs To Go did not install. Does this version of 4.5 have Docs To Go built in? - 11-20-2008, 09:56 AM #23
Newest version is 4.5.0.102 and when I tried using .99 I had a lot of reboot problems until I reformated the memory card, but the newest one .102 has been working great so far!
Life is full of surprises! - 11-20-2008, 03:47 PM #24
i'll upgrade the pearl this weekend .. pretty happy with the .81 firmware though ..
