Default Network Locked

A friend gave me a Blackberry Pearl. I took it to my local AT&T store because it is showing that they are the network on this phone. They told me that they do not sell this particular model and have no idea how it became locked for their network and don't know how to unlock it. I've tried wiping the phone, and I've tried jl_cmder. So far nothing has worked. My other Pearl was lost. I would like to be able to use this one in its place, but I do not have my service through AT&T. My service is through Centennial Wireless. PLEASE HELP!!!

Wiping it won't remove the lock. You need the current carrier, and they should be able to provide you the code and instructions. I don't know why at&t would tell you they never sold the 8100, unless you post this in the wrong forum. I had two at&t branded 8100's, and have post their own OS on CrackBerry.

If everyone spoke Wulfanese™, they wouldn't need to click here for a translation.

Centennial Wireless recently underwent a partial merger with AT&T, so getting the phone unlocked shouldn't be difficult. BE WARNED. Follow the instructions precisely and slowly. You don't need to double-tap any keys when typing MEPD MEP2 to invoke code entry.

When you go to Options/Advanced Options/SIM card and then type the letters "mepd" (without the quotes and keep in mind that you will need to press twice on the "P" key to get a P) what do you see next to Network?

If you see Active then the phone is locked and we can help you unlock it and you will be able to use it with other GSM providers.
