Enter the wrong password 10 times and it will be reset to factory settings and will not have a password.

There is nothing you can do without the password. This sounds sketchy to me - not on the up and up.

lak611 has it right (as usual). You enter the password incorrectly (usually 10 times - but this is settable). The phone will then ask you to enter the word " blackberry ". The phone will now reset, wipe al the previous owner's data but will leave the applications in place.

You will then get a BlackBerry that is usable again.

Why did the previous owner not either tell you the password or, remove it?
