Try and boot mac os into the 32 bit kernel.
While booting up press and hold the numeric 2 and 3 keys together.
Then startup Blackberry Desktop Software and connect your bb to it.

The same thing was happening with my cousin's macbook. The blackberry support site said to boot up in 32 bit. It worked.
Can you confirm if you are indeed on 32 bit.
Open system profiler and click on the software tab. On the right frame chk 64 bit kernel and extensions. If it says NO then you are in 32 bit

Looking in the wrong place.
On the left frame click software
Then check the right frame for 64 bit kernel and extensions. If it says NO then its 32 if it says YES then its 64 bit
