Default misstyped password - help please

Hi
My phone requires me to periodically change my password. This time I must have misstyped when setting the new password. I have tried 8 times to get the new password and I don't want to keep trying as I belive the tenth time wipes the phone.

Is there anyway I can get this fixed please.

By "requires" I'm assuming you mean there's an IT policy in place, is this a work phone on a BES? You can have the BES admin reset the password for you.

A BES admin can do a lot, but I've never heard that one can reset a password. Have you done that?

Sorry I did not put enough information in. My son bought this off ebay for me, so it is not a new phone. I have had it for about 6mths and managed up to now. I did not want to pay for a new phone until I had tried one out as I am over 60 and have arthritis in my hands.
Another question. If I can manage to put the sim card back into my old phone would my contacts and photos show up?

Thanks for your help.

The contacts are almost certainly stored in the phone's memory, not the SIM. Depending on the model of phone and settings in operation, your photos may be stored to the microSD memory card (if installed), or the phone's memory. If a wipe occurs it should not touch the SD card but memory will be wiped.

One suggestion - it is possible you are hitting the auto caps function as you type the password. Holding the keys (typing slowly) will produce CAPITALS. Try to enter the password with a normal rhythm and speed. Unfortunately you only have two tries left, so I hope you have at least a partial backup.

If the contacts were previously on the SIM when you moved to the BB, they should still be there. My son's phone periodically nukes itself and I restore the contacts from there. In the Address Book, hit Menu, go to Options, SIM Phone Book, hit Menu again and select Copy All to Contacts.

There is a BAS command to "Specify new device password and lock device", but it sounds like a moot point since it appears she's got a used device with an IT Policy still in place.
