Question Locked media files...help please!

My ringtones (preloaded & downloaded) all have padlocks next to them. Two days ago I had no problems listening to them and then all of a sudden I kept missing calls and noticed none of my ringtones were audible, they all have padlocks next to them. Anybody have any ideas?

The padlocks just simply mean they were preloaded to the device by RIM and the ones you have downloaded from your carriers website or any other ringtone offering website have always had locks on them, they are locked to YOUR device, it's like a copyright protection thing to avoid you from sharing the files with anyone else via bluetooth transfers, the reason as to why they are inaudible is really unknown to me, but that explains the locks beside them

As far as missing the calls... try taking the phone off vibrate or mute??

Check your profiles and make sure you have the ring you want set at the volume you want. Also check your "In Holster" settings and make sure that is to your liking as well.

I have done all the suggestions given...still nothing, even when I go to the actual media files to play them, it shows them playing but still not audible. Is there any other way to take the phone off of mute beside going to profiles and advanced options?

I don't know about your particular BB but mine has a Mute button on top of the phone.

But it usually shows when it is muted.

Well, back to the start, pull the battery, and then see what gives...

I have the same problem...even after battery pulls it still persists. I can play the ringtones in media player but when I try to assign them to a profile they don't play.

Which device and OS version do you have? Are these preloaded ringtones or ones you've downloaded or made yourself?

I have the Storm 9530 running o/s v4.7.0.122 (platform 4.0.0.153) it was the latest update from Bell.

These are the preloaded ringtones not downloaded.

On any other custom profile the preloaded tones work just fine...until I change and save...then they never work again.
