JUM Error 517

My wife pulled her Pearl out of the holster this morning and the screen reads

JUM Error 517

RESET


I removed the battery and did a hard reset. Still the same, I press the pearl to reset it and it goes blank then reappears with same message.

Any Ideas ?? My wife just got this phone as a replacement for her one that wouldn't charge.

The actual error is JVM Error 517. To correct this, follow the steps outlined below from RIM:

1. If not already installed, download BlackBerry Device Software and BlackBerry Desktop Manager from the wireless service provider web site.

2. Install BlackBerry Desktop Manager and then install the BlackBerry Device Software.

3. Use Application Loader to reload the software on the BlackBerry device.

i did what both 2&3 suggested and neither worked what do i do now? when i go to blackberry.com and download the software it says my computer hasnt been modified but i have a windows xp version.
