Question Help with LED Error flashes/code

Ok so my buddy dropped his phone in a puddle and asked me to fix it for him. I put a new battery in, the phone powered up for 20 seconds then shut down. Now when power is connected it doesnt power up, but flashes a code with the led. The code is flash flash flash pause flash flash - I have searched every forum for the past 4 hours on so many sites and have come up empty. I have tried javaloader and jl_cmdr to reload stuff. NADA. The phone will start the error flashes when plugged in via USB but the computer will not recognize that the berry is plugged in. PLEASE HELP! Does anyone know of any list or website that can decode these error flashes and tell me whats going on?

I am having EXACTLY the same problem with my 8100, but it never dropped in water or any other liquid for that matter. It started off as ERROR 507, I reloaded the software but it continued to shut off itself. I must have erased and reinstalled th OS about four times before this happened. HELP!! SOMEBODY PLEAASE HEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLP!!

I have tried every option to try to reload it hoping it would fix it. Blackberry.com has garbage for a tech database and only list two flashes and two pauses as no apps loaded and to reload the OS. No other combination. Someone out there must know what mine means! Please help!

Given that no-one else has an answer to this, I think that the original poster has a properly bricked BB. Water has got in and we all know that BBs really hate water.

If JL_Cmder cannot not bring it back to Error 507 then ste bootstrap loader is not getting far enough up the boot sequence (like POST on a PC) to allow it to even look for the USB bootloader.

I think that the water (applied whilst the BB was powered up) has cause something inside to fail and it is now dead.

This is the more likely if the water detector in the hole by the battery just above the Media Card slot has gone red - it should be white. There is another one (I am told) inside the phone.

And the majik word is screwed.

Really sorry man. You BB is dead.

There is a third detector on the end of the battery beside the contacts. It is a little sticker with xxxx on it. Again white is good and red is the same as with traffic lights.

Here is a guide from Hayden (pinstack.com) it might help. I will try to find more for your guy's.

Problem

You receive one of the following errors on your BlackBerry device while using Application Loader to install device software:

Device Error 505
Device Error 507

Both errors indicate that no applications are loaded on the BlackBerry device.

Cause 1

During the Application Loader process, the existing applications on the BlackBerry device were erased, but Application Loader failed to load the new applications.

Resolution

Complete the following steps:
Verify that device software is installed on your computer.
If your BlackBerry device is connected to a laptop in a docking station, disconnect the laptop from the docking station and connect the device directly to the laptop.
If a third-party program (e.g. virus scanner) is using the same COM port as BlackBerry Desktop Manager, close the third-party application to free the COM port.
If you are using a USB adapter to connect your BlackBerry device to a serial port on your computer, temporarily connect your device to a computer with a USB port.
In Desktop Manager, double-click Application Loader.
Use Application Loader to install the device software.
Cause 2

You erased all the data and applications on your BlackBerry device by typing an incorrect password ten times in Application Loader.

Resolution

Complete the following steps:
In Desktop Manager, double-click Application Loader.
Use Application Loader to install the device software.

from magellan0547 pinstack.com:

1. get it out as fast as possible, of course while keeping in mind the general safety of yourself and others please

2. if the device is on then turn off the device immediately...however if the device is already off then don't try and turn it on as you will definitely brick your device

3. take apart the device as carefully and as much as possible (remove all doors and cases, take out batteries, unscrew antennas, remove key pads,...anything and everything that will come out must, if it's something like the PSP with a hinged door make sure it stays completely open

4. let device air dry for at least 24 hours if not more...most DIYers would recommend at least 36 to 72 hours (yes i know 3 days without your BB the world is over)

5. every 12 hours you should blast all parts of the device with compressed air so as to remove any and all moisture, dropletts, etc...don't ruin your device doing this by messing around with the canned air and using it incorrectly...they can destroy your electronics almost instantly and can give people "frostbite"

6. patience and more patience is the key to hopefully saving your device from a watery grave

Useful tip to a drowned Blackberry!!

One day at the pool, the inevitable happens: you get thrown into the water by a bunch of your drunken buddies. In any case, the $300 cell phone that was in your pocket got wet. Unless you own a water proof cell phone, you’ll want to know exactly how to dry out a wet cell phone, because you might still be able to repair it.

1. Remove the battery. This is the most important part! Damage in wet electronic devices mostly comes from short circuits. Removing the battery quickly will prevent electricity from further damaging the phone. Resist the temptation to test the phone while it is still wet!
2. Remove the SIM card (if applicable). The SIM card should have survived, but make sure you don’t use it again until it has dried completely.
3. Disassemble the phone. Use the required screwdrivers to disassemble the phone as much as you can. Note that disassembling the phone will probably void your warranty, but then so will dropping the phone in water. You’ve got nothing to lose. The reason for the disassembly is simple: the phone will dry up much faster once it is disassembled. You could skip this step, but water can remain inside the phone for weeks if you don’t do it.
4. Dry the phone as much as possible using q-tips or paper towels or a similar material. This will prevent water from getting further into the phone. Two ideas to help with the drying:
Heat the phone. Heat will help water evaporate. Leaving the phone under a desk lamp for 24 or 48 hours might help. WARNING: Do not overheat! Just a little warmth is enough. Heating the phone too much can further increase the damage done to it.
Use a fan. Leave the phone under a desk fan for 24 or 48 hours.
5. Test the phone. After a few days (usually two or three), the phone should be clean and dry. Reassemble the phone and put the SIM card and battery pack back in. If it doesn’t work, there is a chance your battery has died from water damage. Try an alternative power source. You can get another battery for cheap if your phone still works.
As always, be very careful when disassembling electronic devices. Know you warranties and insurances well before attempting anything, and make sure you note how to reassemble the phone. Repair a wet cell phone at your own risks.
Hopefully, you will manage to save your wet cell phone from drowning!

I have a similar problem, but my stickers are all white. LED blinks 1 pause 4 times. The computer doesn't detect its connection, so I can't use Loader to reinstall the OS. I tried using the command line DOS running loader with the command: loader /nojvm and it only open loader. If following he wizard at loader it shows all blank in the connections list, and i can't click auto detect either.

using desktop manager 6
windows 7 64bits
blackberry bold 9700

any suggestions?

@borbitz have you tried completely wiping it so there is nothing on it. Then trying to upload a "stable" OS. I think that may be your issue.
