I have just been given a 8100 from a friend and the phone is locked to another provider. I have the unlocking codes (5 of them) but the 8100 only had 2 attempts left.
As you can guess from this message the first two did not work and now I am stuck on what to do.
Does anyone know how I can re-set the phone to get some more, I don't mind if re setting the phone means losing everything on it, just would like to unlock it so that I can use it with my provider.
Any help would be greatly received.
Thanks

Your phone is now what they call "hardlocked". You'll need to take it to a store that can do a cable unlock. Its still unlockable, but you're not going to be able to do it your self. It will require some special tools.

maybe not necessarily bcause, we crackberrians have a taste of doing risky things to our blackberrys, but we always come out successful
Now befire you go to carrier, i suggest u reload ur os, its risky, but it may work, just reload the os and make sure to delete 'vendir.xml'

Thanks | How did you end up with 5 unlock codes? Are you just randomly guessing what they are?

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com | Reloading the OS will not reset the unlocking attempt counter. The only way it it can be unlocked now is through cable unlocking.

Thanks | As a poster above mentioned a local shop that does unlocking via cable method would have to do it. You cannot reset the counter.

I just skimmed this thread (gotta leave for work soon) but I think the OP has a phone that has a password on it. Hence the "3 tries left" statement. I think the OP is asking how to get past the security code before doing anything else.
