Hellllllppppppp 8100 is typing letters instead of numbers

Right let me explain......

Basically if i pretty much try to do anything on my pearl it wants to type alphabet letters instead of the command. I.e. i press the menu button on the home screen it comes up with 'qe' in the calling section, try to dial numbers changes them to letters, try to return to previous (curved arrow) and it gives me a *!!!!

Now this has happend to me before and i somehow worked out how to get rid of it however for the life of me i can not remember and am servely f'd off because my trackball broke and now can not do anything! grrrrrr! : mad:

Dont get me wrong i have trawled the internet and forums looking for a solution and so far no good....

Please advise in detail the step by step process to sort this and i will be forever in your debt.

Please note i have already tried battery pull several times and it does nothing for me!
