Got a pearl 8100 here. It just stopped making calls. It rarely does, and if it does, it will drop during the call.
I loaded the latest OS on it still the same problem. Tried SIM card in another phone in the same spot and it works.
The pearl does get full signal and EDGE.
Could this be a hardware problem?
The antenna, maybe?
Any suggestions please.

Can you receive calls fine? Have you done anything differently since it WAS able to make calls?
When you are able to get make a connection, how long does it take to drop?

Yes. Receives calls fine. Nothing was done differently.
A connection is never made. It says call failed as soon as dialed

Can you send text messages?
Probably a stupid suggestion, but have you tried a battery pull?

I've wiped the phone till 507 and loaded the latest OS.

Ok. Update! It cannot receive any calls.
When I said that earlier I was just assuming but I did not have the phone with me nor did I test it.
I even tried calling my voicemail. That returns the call failed message as well.
Text messages do no send either.
Suggestions from here please.

Could not figure it out. But when the antenna cover is off it works sometimes. Sometimes i need to slacken the screws and sometimes with the silver rails off it works.
Very strange. Very strange indeed. I'm guessing I need a new back piece though..

Well that definitely changes things.. Can you do anything data related on that phone? Did you happen to buy it used and maybe the phone was registered stolen or lost?
Have you tried registering with the network? Resend your service books?
