Smile Buttons not working.

I just recently started having a problem where my buttons don't work. At first I was really frustrated but now I seem to have figured out the problem. All I need now is solutions or ideas for one.

The problem is that when the keypad light goes off, the buttons won't work. My ball can scroll but it can't click. When the light comes back on everything works fine.

I'm just looking for any ideas that maybe can help. Also wondering if its software related problem or hardware.

So far I've:

Did a hard rest - didn't work.
Opened and cleaned it out - didn't work.
Put the back light to be on for 2 min - works for the 2 minutes but after that sometimes the keypad won't light up and buttons stop working.

Info:
Have v4.2.1.107 (Platform 2.3.0.83).
I have other problems with it such as I can't control my volume since when I click the up and down on the volume control, nothing happens.
It has a little damage since I take it everywhere and I'm a teenager.

Thank You for any help!

No it migt be time to replace your keypad or give it a quick blast of air.
