Connect it to Desktop Manager and make a backup. I hope you have insurance for it Lady.

The problem: A completely, with an emphasis on completely, blank white screen. Occasionally, the phone appears slightly fuzzy, or glitchy. Also, the phone occasionally appears completely normal. The phone, in my case, worked fine despite the screen problems.

The fix: I found a thread about someone claiming that the four solder points behind the mini usb port somehow created a short behind the screen. The guide said to, first, completely disassemble your blackberry (sorry I don't have the guide here...could look for it today and send it to anyone that requests) After disassembled down to being able to see the green motherboard with the small screen attached, slightly and carefully peel the left side of the screen (the side that contains the mini usb port) a bit upwards until you can see the four solder points. For the laymen, these solder points are simply 4 grayish/silver spots. While taking care to not lift the screen excessively and leaving the majority still attached to the motherboard, take a piece of electrical tape, or any insulator and carefully put it over those four solder points.

Then, push screen back into position, reassemble, and test.

Please let me know if this works for you. My problem was solved instantly.

As for a second major problem of blackberry owners: if your phone will not sync with your computer and you have a bad mini usb port on your blackberry, it is probably because of the mini usb female port of your phone. A replacement of the port is the only solution I know of for this problem

As for a white screen with an hourglass: I think this is probably going to, usually, be a software problem and requires a reload of the operating system using your blackberry software on cd, or software directly from blackberry.com

    -Philip

    Many thanks Philip
I did try the same solution for my Bold 9000 and it did solve the white screen problem. Cheers

I'd say that's a White Screen of Death. There's nothing to do apart from an OS re-install. Sorry.

Yes, wiping the handheld will erase data. But, if you can't see anything on the screen, how on earth can you wipe handheld? Customer Service kills me, everytime...

Just reload the OS, during the process it SHOULD do a backup for you. Unless, you've done a backup lately, then there is nothing to worry about...
My screen is white and it changes colors at times, Its never been neer water, what could i do?

Electrical tape is typically black, made of poly vinyl, and commonly used to insulate wire. You can buy it in hardware stores, auto parts, convenience, grocers, and I'm sure many more places. Looks like this:

I had the same problem. However I found a solution without dissambling my phone.

    MY SOLUTION:

    1. do a battery pull
    2. press with your finger on top the screen in the area just below the blackberry logo (you may take your phone in your hand and press your thumb on the described place
    3. while pressing on the screen, put your battery back in and wait for the red light to dissapear
    4. the phone should boot as normal, without any appereance of the white screen!
    5. you can now stop pressing on the screen!

this method works perfectly for my phone. although everytime i do a battery pull i have to use it again. it may not seem like the perfect solution but it is a life saver in situations where you do not have the equipment/time to dissamble your phone!

(warning: do not use excessive power. the blackberry screen is very solid i have no screen errors whatsoever. but you should find out for your own how much pressure your screen can handle)

Just wanted to say thanks for the info. I bought a curve off ebay that had this issue, did what you said with the black tape and now it works perfectly!
Had to go to you tube to see how to take it apart but it worked!

    Hi,
i read your msg and realized that this is exactly what is happening to my phone. I took it apart but can't seem to locate the four solder points you speak of. Would they be located in a different spot on my Bold 9700 ?
    Thanks.

Thank you very much Philip. I just followed your instructions to the letter on my Bold 9000 and it appears to have fixed my white "screen of death problem". Same as you "My problem was solved instantly"

I was about ready to go to AT&T to get a new phone, good thing I found your post. Thanks again.

You've solved the problem I have but I can't get to it, to fix it permanently and I don't want to void my warranty.

In your opinion is this a design fault would i be able to replace my phone free of charge under my carrier Vodafone would you think?

Putting insulation tape around my USB connector fixed it for me!

    Thank you.

If anyone else is having this problem I'd recommend trying this. Look on YouTube for disassembly instructions.
